The Brooklin House Founders Story
"As the founder and designer of Victoria Hamilton-Rivers Design, I have focused on designing and staging homes in Northern California for decades. Ranging from interiors, color consultations, home renovations, and staging, to creating rental properties and homes for both myself, family and friends. My passion is transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
What drives me is the joy and inspiration my interiors bring to others. Brooklin House is the most recent addition to my portfolio, alongside several seaside rental cottages developed on the Pacific Coastline in Marin County. Making these sorts of contributions is my raison d'etre.
With Brooklin House, every care and attention has been paid to the details of this home. The talented crew of craftsmen who helped create this exceptional property gave it their all in 2020 and 2021 despite the challenges of Covid-19. As the world begins to open up again and we yearn to travel, explore, gather together and be one with nature, we believe Brooklin House offers the opportunity to celebrate and cherish this revival.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to share in this magical property and I would be honored for you to come and create your own experiences at Brooklin House."
Victoria's Journey
to Brooklin House
For decades, nature has been a huge influence on my interior design work. As a starting point, I pay close attention to what meets the eye outside and beyond the interior walls of any given building. I firmly believe that the best of interior design pays artistic reverence to its environment and location in equal measure to form and function. Marrying the outside with the inside while balancing the character of any given home and the needs of my guests, are important considerations for me as a designer.
Water settings have been one of my greatest loves and design influences for decades – oceans and bays, lakes and rivers particularly, are the places I am drawn to most and where I find I am most at home in my work. I have developed an aesthetic that is described by many as: “Crisp, clean lines with a fresh color palette - where luxurious modern meets whimsical coastal.”
As bizarre as it may sound, exploring the northeastern coast of Maine coming from the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Ocean, was always on my designer bucket list. I was drawn to Brooklin and the Blue Hill Peninsula particularly. World-renowned for its wooden boat building, maritime history, and exquisite natural beauty, it became one of the areas I visited over and over again in search of my next project.
When I first came across Brooklin House, it was love at first sight for me! Walking out to the point and standing inside the home looking out at Herrick Bay, was a sensory overload that made my heart sing and my creative juices flow. I knew this was where I wanted to be to create my next destination vacation home.
